Robert Wonink
MSK Sonographer Podiatry
Robert studied podiatry at the Academy for Podiatry and later specialized as a podiatry teacher. Since 1991, he has been teaching foot and ankle anatomy, biomechanics, pediatric podiatry, and orthopedic shoe technology.
In 2004, he founded Podiatry Care Netherlands. He specialized in rheumatism and ultrasonography in 2007 and has been teaching musculoskeletal ultrasound of the foot and ankle since 2009.
Since 2017, Robert has been a fellow of the OMERACT FUSS RA Group in Leeds, UK, and a member of the Ultrasound section of the NVMBR. He co-authored a 2018 research paper in the Journal of Rheumatology on subtalar joint synovitis in rheumatoid arthritis patients. In 2024, he published a study in Open and Reproducible Musculoskeletal Imaging Research (ORMIR) on the reliability of ultrasound-based flexor hallucis longus tendon excursion measurements.
From April 2011 to May 2024, Robert worked as an ultrasonographer alongside Dr. Van Dalen, an orthopedic foot and ankle specialist, at Bergman Clinics in Naarden. Since then, he has been working with Dr. Metsaars at Xpert Clinics in Utrecht.
